Costume Institute Gala 2007 - I Spy Metallics & Satin

So I’m sure all you fashion lovers out there have seen the 5 million blogs out there detailing the gala in NYC last night. I had the pleasure of going to this gala many, many lifetimes ago and I’ll tell you, it really is THE night for fashion & celebrity watching because EVERYONE who is ANYONE is at that event.

In my review of all the pics I saw I noticed the trend for some celebrities last night was a 1920s “flapper”-esque look or the Old Hollywood type of vibe. The fabric of choice was quite clear: metallics and shimmery/satiny materials are BACK bigtime. Hot! But I won’t bore you with a long commentary today so let’s get to what you came here for -fashion pics!

Jessica Simpson in Roberto Cavalli (what in tarnation is THIS????? Can we discuss her hair color as of late? And the lipstick? And the ORANGE tan ? And the cleavage action????? I’m so confused right now…Pls note the only reason I included her is b/c she has the metallic look going on.)

Christina Ricci in Calvin Klein Collection (who I must say has come a LONG way since her Addams Family days…she looks stunning!)

Kate Bosworth (who is looking much healthier these days) in Prada

Cate Blanchett in Nicolas Ghesquiere for Balenciaga

Kirsten Dunst in vintage Yves Saint Laurent (somehow, this works on her-and only her.)

Rihanna (Love the dress, but not feeling the gloves, boo. *Thumbs down*)

And my fav dress of the night goes to Cameron Diaz. This Christian Dior dress is The Hotness. That color is sexyjuicy. I think I just made a up a new word (don’t try to steal it!) Yeah… I like that.. “SexyJuicy”. That color is simply amazing, dahling! Can I just say really quickly that my girl Cameron has been looking FABU-LICIOUS since her breakup with Mr. JT? My girl seems to be saying, “Justin what? Justin who????”. Love it!
