Garnier Fructis ‘Curls & Shine’

by Pascalle on August 27th, 2007

As you can see from my b5media profile pic, I have a mass of thick curly, stubborn, unruly hair.  Le sigh.  Tried all types of gels, mousses and cremes which left my curls feeling hard and crusty (that sounds gross, I know…sorry).

Over the weekend I went out to my local drugstore to find an item I’d read many good things about for us curly haired chicks

Garnier Fructis Style Soft Curl Cream

But I couldn’t find it anywhere!  Must really be good.  Therefore instead, I settled for

Garnier Curl & Shine Leave-In Conditioning Cream

So far so great.  It left my hair feeling soft and really manageable.  I’ll do a Before and After on this in the near future.  Promise!  :)

I use the Curl Creme as well, but for months I haven’t been able to find it! I called up the company today, and it seems they have discontinued it. Its safe to say a little part of me died today, it was the only thing that ever worked on my wild curls =\

The only problem I ever had with it was that I couldn’t use it with dry hair, and in the back it said I could. I had to have sopping wet hair and put it on, but it dried beautifully, and didn’t weigh down, feel crunch, or do that melting thing most cremes and gels tend to do.

Yea i couldnt find my soft curl cream at any store and I noticed at the cvs i used to work at that they did a new planogram and it wasnt included in it. A part of me died when i realized it was discontinued. I soooo am going to call this company. They should make some just for me and send it to me. LOL

no sign of soft-curl here in san diego either! My boyfriend and I raved about it to everyone who complimented us on our hair….

Let’s either ask Garnier to start it up again or get a black hair care company to manufacture it and make the bucks. I’m for the latter option.

Above is a link to a black hair care company, Kinky-Curly, that makes two products that work as well or better that Garnier’s Soft-Curl product for both my boyfriend and I.

The products are called “Knot Today” and “Curling Custard.”

↑ The up side: 1) does not cause my hair to lock up as fast as Soft-Curl did;2) leaves both his and my hair shinier but not greasy, and; 3) uses almost completely natural ingredients.

↓ The DOWN side is that it is almost 4 x AS EXPENSIVE!

Would love to see some black investors help this company to make its manufacturing less expensive so that they can bring the price down. I’ll pay more to keep the $ circulating in black folks’ hands. But I won’t pay 4X as much!

Here’s a link to a petition. It’s very small so we need your help in passing it on and getting as many signatures as possible.
