Mommy Nakedness?

My fellow Mommy Blogger/b5′er, writer of Blog Fabulous, Tracee Sioux, brings up some interesting points in her post today regarding mothers and privacy with their children.

As I’m sure you’ve heard, Britney Spears was/is in danger of losing full custody of her boys partly due to the allegations from a former bodyguard that she

“regularly appeared naked in front of the children and used drugs while they were in her care.”

The using drugs thing.  OK.  For sure that’s a no-no.  But the ‘appeared naked’ part?  I mean, I’m sure to a lot of mothers/families that isn’t a big deal and I personally think (depending on the child’s age of course) it’s perfectly harmless.  Tracee points out that mothers of young children rarely (if EVER) have any private time, nevermind even using the damn bathroom alone!  Hahaha!  I have to agree.

Even my 9 month old will follow me into the bathroom (he will crawl right after me to whereEVER it is that I’m going) and catch a fit if he can’t come along.  So I mean, I totally get it.  Does it mean I’m abusing my child by letting him sit on the floor and wait for Mommy while she tinkles?  HELL NO.  I will say the showering and getting dressed in front of my kid thing I can’t do, not b/c I’m a prude (far from it) but because my kid will scream bloody murder if he sees my breasts and realizes the milk shop is closed for business.  So I had to stop changing with him in the room.  True story.
