Real World Hot Mama Style: Featuring Kate

While browsing one of my social networking sites the other day, I happened to stumble upon the profile pic of a friend of mine, Kate, and immediately thought: ‘Wow! What great style! I love the entire outfit. It’s simple, yet super stylish, without being over the top.’ In other words, she doesn’t look like a fashion victim. So, of course, I had to blog about it…LOL!

It should noted though that Kate isn’t a mom–yet! (LOL! Just kidding Kate!! Don’t want your heart to stop beating or anything!! LOL!) but that didn’t matter to me b/c I just wanted to do a quick profile on her style for you gals–wait a minute–I take that back. Now that I think about it, Kate IS a mommy– to Zidane, “ZeeZu” for short. He’s right there in the pic with her.

Ain’t he just the cuuuutest? I need to hook him up with my diva shih-tzu, Lexi (leave it to us moms to try and play matchmaker all the damn time. We can’t help it, can we? OK, I’m digressing…)

Anyhoo, as I mentioned earlier I saw the pic and thought it’d be cool to start doing an occasional post on a real world person that I come across and do a quick profile on their style. I figure we can’t always look to celebrities or magazines for fashion inspiration!

Here are the fashion item ‘deets’ (um, that’s my lil’ shorthand for ‘details’):

Cape: French Connection

White long sleeve tee: (Does it matter? You can find those any/everywhere!)

Jeans: Rock & Republic

Boots: Miss Sixty ‘Adrian’

I love it. Even her haircut is perfectly urban ‘chic’.

Now, you don’t have to go out and spend a whole lot to achieve this look. The concept is simple. The key components are Kate’s cape and her boots. Those 2 items make this outfit pop. To achieve something similar on a budget just get an ‘interesting’ kimono-sleeve style cardigan/jacket, poncho, or capelet. Throw on some jeans, and finish it off with a pair of tan boots.

I hope to do more features like this in the future, so ladies out there step your fashion game up b/c you NEVER know when I may run up on your with my camera to snap your pic and use you on the blog!  I’m tired of being the guinea pig, in 2008, its YOUR turn! (Trust me, my husband, and wallet, thank you for it!)
