Social Shopping?

We’ve all heard of social networking sites like MySpace, hi5, and Facebook. Now there are social shopping websites popping up all over the place.

What is a social shopping website? It’s when you join an online community and recommend items/websites to other members for items you like/love. I’m personally a part of three of them. Yes. Three. LOL! Let’s discuss them, shall we?

Polyvore - site where you can pick clothing/accessories/home décor items and assemble them together to make your own outfit creations. It’s really easy to do. I love it because it satisfies the wanna-be fashion stylist in me.

You can add items from any of your favorite websites (Gucci, Neiman Marcus, Old Navy, Target–or Targé rather ;). On the site you can check out other people’s outfits and mark them as your favorites. At the same time, others can check out YOUR sets and mark them as their favorites. If you love an item, you use your mouse to rollover the image to see what store/website it came. If you click on the item, it brings you directly the the website it came from. So easy.

Here’s an outfit that I put together which seems to be pretty popular (click on pic for all item details) :

I named this one “…a lil bit rock n roll“. I was in an edgy/rocker girl mood that day…The only thing missing from the pic is bottle of Chanel Noir Ceremic nail polish (which I could have included in my pic above, by the way. You can add whatever you want to complete your “look”. Pretty flippin’ awesome if you ask me…)

Next up, we have ThisNext. ThisNext is more about sharing shopping locations, items, and is based on member recommendations. It’s a visually appealing site and you can customize the page to your liking. Here’s a screenshot (click to enlarge):

Remember the vanity caddy I previously wrote about? Well I found it on ThisNext. Cool, huh?

Last, but not least is Stylehive. In their “About” section, they describe themselves as

“a global social shopping community, dedicated to discovering and sharing the most exciting products, the stores that sell them, and the people that find them.”

Nice!

So have fun “window shopping” and playing Fashion Stylist Extraordinare. Add me to your buddy/contact lists if you’d like - I’m “bigPas1″ on all of the sites mentioned above.

Enjoy! (And don’t forget who sent you!!!!) ;)
